If you noticed we were off-line for a day...

it's because we're currently hosted by Lunarpages on a "shared server." Suddenly, without warning, they decided we were using more than our share of resources and "suspended" the site (with the suggestion that we upgrade to costlier services).

Our Janitor took a very dim view of this. Wink He is suggesting we find another host. This process, and the actual migration and testing of the moved site, will take time. So for the next month, things could get a little rocky here. Even now, we're operating in "off-line mode," which has curtailed the site's usability temporarily.

Needless to say, we're very sorry for the inconvenience, and hope you'll bear with us as we find a new, safer home for mutual support and the exchange of ideas.

latest news

Shouldn't this post be promoted to the front page, sticky at the top for now?

Latest news:
I just brought the site back live but read-only for the time being. I logged all the users out and our regular members cannot log back in until we have time to figure out the course of action for the short term.

All this means that registered members cannot post any new blog nor comments for a while. But at least the site is up and you can catch up reading old articles and blog entries and comments you haven't read yet!

I, too, apologize for the great inconvenience. We are working hard to bring the site back to its normal operation.

Happy reading!

We're moving

We are definitely moving from one hosting provider about which I shall say nothing to remain polite, to another.

Since I have not had any time to prepare for the move, some downtime in inevitable. Sorry.

There is a lot to set up and test before we can make the actual switch, so it may take a few days. You can regularly check this thread for the latest update and to have an idea when you can expect things to come back to normal.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Blessings!

Progress report

The web site is now almost fully operational at the new host. There are still quite a few things to check and set up, though. Things went much slower than expected because the move was not planned, and I encountered some obscure bug that made me waste close to a day.

Hopefully, we'll be in a position to make the official switch either at the end of today, or tomorrow (fingers crossed). Once the switch is made, it's just a question of waiting for the new DNS to propagate. As soon as they do, you should be able to log back in and use the site as you used to.

Thank you again for your patience.
